Women’s Ministry sponsors a monthly Bible Study, the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM. We are experimenting with some new material this year with a different leader each month, it should prove to be interesting. We invite all women and young ladies to join us.
The Christmas Cap ‘n Mitten Tree will be up before we know it. So you may want to start picking up some stocking caps, gloves, underwear and socks to decorate the tree. These are given to local school children.
Questions about the study or anything related to the ministry you may contact Cheryl Swinhart @ 303-425-6187, she will lead the lesson for October.

A Birthday Celebration
We met Wednesday, September 8th in the Fireside lounge for pork roast dinner in honor of Fred Hanson’s 90th birthday. Fred came for a short visit with his relative from Sweden Anders Nikolausson, and his nephew Frank Hanson from Boise, Idaho. They did not stay long as Alice was home cooking up a storm for about 30 people. We were just grateful that Fred could come by and be with us for a short time.
Thank you to Evie Cullman for saying grace for us as Pastor Barb was unable to be with us.
We will meet again on Wednesday, October 13th in the Fireside lounge at 12 noon. Helen Weingarten and Nancy Castellari will host. Bring side dishes or desserts and your place setting.
See you all then, and invite someone to join you when you see them in Church.

Second Brick at Quilt Plaza for Advent Quilters

We have received a picture of our second brick placed at the Quilt Plaza in Baltimore for having contributed to Project Comfort for quilt shipping expenses. After $500 you are rewarded a brick. We have not given to this project in 2010, as we want to be sure we have the funds to continue to buy the supplies we need to keep making quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
We displayed some quilts on Rally Sunday and thank the people that stopped by and added a tie to a quilt. One could see the different types of quilts that are made. There are crazy quilts, some with squares, stripes or other combination’s, but all sturdy and made with willing hands. We appreciate all donations.

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who contributed to, and participated in, our First Annual Advent Homecoming/Rally Day/Community Fair event on Sept. 12. It was wonderful to see some familiar faces, and get acquainted with some new ones. Our beautiful new garden was the perfect setting, the weather cooperated, and the dunk tank got quite a workout! A special thanks to our Hmong brothers and sisters for lending us their praise band.
While you were eating that delicious burger or satisfying your sweet tooth at the bake sale, did you learn something new about the ministries of Advent? Did you hear the Holy Spirit whisper in your ear that YOUR God-given gifts would be a perfect fit for that group over there? We’re just getting started – watch your bulletin and future editions of the Advance for upcoming events that will help keep the momentum and energy of Rally Sunday alive and well, “So that ALL may know Christ’s love!”

A BIG thank you to Pastor Barb, Tonya Hanson and the youth: Paul, Bella, Michelle, Abby, Melissa, and Delaney, who served the homeless families at the IHN servant event on Saturday Sept 18th. The Youth made dinner, served, cleaned up, and spent time with 16 people in transition. We have another opportunity to serve in December, please ask Chris Hanson or someone on the Social Outreach committee if you are interested or would like more information about helping with this important outreach.
